Akward………………….
This is the time of year I kind of disappear. It’s not because I’m in secret training at altitude or anything. What actually takes place is my effort to hang with my son and watch him tear into another year of football. The kid is good, real good. Every year at this time I swear I’m going to run while he practices but every year it gets harder and harder to pull myself away. So after running a somewhat respectable 27:15 at Carver I again thought my training was heading in a real good direction. Nonetheless, I proceeded to do nothing for almost 2 weeks until I committed myself to not only one leg at the Lynn Woods Relay but two. If you’ve ever been there to run this event you have some idea how exhausting this lowly 2.5 mile course is. I was running the first leg for the CMS masters team and I don’t think it went very well. I felt very out of sorts and kind of always. I Went out hard to the lead but by the turn around I was all done. It’s too bad because the guys in front were right there but I was total junk. My second run felt much better and I was actually thinking it wasn’t all that bad. 14:12 for my first and 14:50 for run number two. I’ve have a solid week of training and actually ran an hour on the treadmill today thanks to the “hurricane.” I have a bunch of things on my plate this week but I’m determined to stay motivated and work hard.
