Ist Annual CMS 10,000 Invitational

June has been a busy month with some different racing events on my calendar.
This past Sunday was a 10,000 meter race at the New England Track and Field Championships. It seemed to me to be a pretty low key event. Having never gone to anything like this I kind of thought there would be more of a buzz with maybe some spectators and more athletes. The 10,000 was the first event of the day. I have been looking forward to working with my team on the track where you can gage your progress at anytime during the race. Ben, Jim, and I seem to be locking horns as of late and today would be no different. I didn’t think any of us would take off from the group and run solo for 25 laps. We ran in a nice tight group up until just after the 4 mile mark. I guess we fell asleep a bit and the pace started to slow a bit. I should have trusted my instincts more and jumped out to try and help but I thought it was a bit early. With 10 laps to go we really started to pick it up a bit and our nice little pack of 3 was starting to string out. I got a bit pissed when we realize the lap counter was actually right and we had 3 laps to go instead of 2. I pulled into the lead for the next 2.5 laps but I was getting tired and Ben came by me with about 100 meters to go.
I bonked big time on our longish warm down but I had a great time with everyone.
Thanks Krissy K. for the awesome photos and thanks to Greg for the post bonk food and thanks to Jim and Ben for the great race.
